About the role

Engineering / Maintenance Manager • Lead and manage all engineering and maintenance activities for heavy mining equipment and associated infrastructure. • Develop and implement preventive, predictive and condition-based maintenance strategies. • Manage the maintenance of haul trucks, excavators, drilling equipment and auxiliary mining equipment. • Ensure optimal equipment availability, reliability and utilisation in support of production targets. • Lead major shutdowns, planned maintenance activities and component replacement programmes. • Monitor equipment performance and conduct root-cause failure analysis to reduce recurring breakdowns. • Manage maintenance costs, budgets, backlog, warranties, critical spares and component life cycles. • Utilise CMMS/EAM systems to monitor maintenance performance, work orders, planning and reporting. • Lead and develop engineers, planners, supervisors, artisans and technicians. • Ensure compliance with applicable Namibian mining legislation, safety standards, company procedures and OEM requirements. • Coordinate with OEMs, suppliers and international technical support teams on equipment performance, technical issues and maintenance improvements. • Review maintenance KPIs and implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve reliability and reduce downtime. • Provide technical guidance and strategic maintenance support to site management and production teams. • Ensure effective maintenance planning, resource allocation and availability of critical components and spares. • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all maintenance activities are conducted safely and efficiently. • Prepare and present maintenance reports, forecasts, budgets and performance updates to management. • Support the development and implementation of long-term engineering and maintenance strategies for the operation. **Special Requirements:** • Relevant OEM training or certification for the mining equipment used on site. • Experience with specific OEM brands and models within the project fleet. • Mandarin proficiency, particularly for coordination with Chinese OEMs, technical teams and international stakeholders. • Experience working with international mining contractors or multinational mining operations. • Advanced knowledge of CMMS/EAM systems and maintenance performance management. • Experience in maintenance optimisation, reliability engineering and continuous improvement programmes. • Experience managing large-scale maintenance shutdowns and major component rebuild programmes. • Knowledge of asset management, condition monitoring and predictive maintenance technologies. • Experience in maintenance budgeting, cost control and lifecycle cost optimisation. • Membership of a relevant professional engineering or technical body will be an advantage. **Company Contact:** Address: Vivien Investment Building, Tobias Hainyeko street Swakopmund, ER, Namibia Phone: +264 64-463121/+264 64-462068 Website: http://

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree, BTech or National Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering, or a recognized artisan qualification with substantial Heavy Mining Equipment (HME) maintenance management experience.
  • Minimum 10 years' progressive experience in heavy mining equipment maintenance.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior management or superintendent role within a large open-pit mining operation.
  • Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary maintenance functions covering haul trucks, excavators, drilling equipment and auxiliary mining equipment.
  • Proven experience with relevant OEM equipment makes and models.
  • Strong knowledge of preventive, predictive and condition-based maintenance.
  • Experience in major shutdown planning, component lifecycle management and root-cause failure analysis.
  • Proven ability to manage equipment availability, reliability, maintenance costs, backlog, warranties, critical spares and component replacement programmes.
  • Experience using CMMS or Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) systems.
  • Proven leadership experience managing engineers, planners, supervisors, artisans and technicians in a multicultural mining environment.
  • Sound knowledge of applicable Namibian mining health and safety requirements.
  • Strong English communication and report-writing skills.
  • Valid Code B driver's licence.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with international OEMs and overseas technical support teams.
