About the role

Job Purpose: • Attend to ancillary duties for NIPDB in complying with various legislative instruments (i.e., completion and filing of documents at BIPA and PEGA etc). • Provide legal advice/opinions and assist regarding legal matters. • Drafting, negotiating and reviewing legal agreements, legal documentation, polices, processes and procedures. • Conduct world check requests (screening tool) and provide the reports to the various respective departments. • Create and maintain or regularly update the policy register, contracts register, declaration of interest register and world checks register. • Provide litigation support by recording litigious matters. • Provide Intellectual Property support by assisting with Industrial Property Tribunal matters. • Provide administrative assistance to Company Secretary in preparing the board packs for the 4 • Board Sub-Committees and Board Meetings. • Provide administrative assistance to Company Secretary in respect of travel & accommodation arrangements, venue & catering in preparation for Board Meetings. • Draft Minutes and Action lists for the 4 Board Sub-Committees and Board meetings of the NIPDB and circulate to the respective internal stakeholders for input. • Prepare Board fees monthly for the Company Secretary's review and submission to payroll. • Assist the Company Secretary with coordination and relevant stakeholder engagements. • Liaising with external legal practitioners and stakeholders. • Prepare draft Exco agenda weekly. • Provide any other additional governance and company secretarial support to the Manager: Legal, Risk & Compliance/Company Secretary. • Perform all other duties and responsibilities to give effect to the role and responsibilities of the Legal Officer and undertake such other duties as may reasonably be required from time to time. **Company Contact:** Address: Cnr Gartent Street & Dr. A.B. Requirements

  • Hold a minimum of an LLB Degree.
  • Admitted as a legal practitioner of the High Court of Namibia.
  • 3-5 years, post admission, experience in related corporate, legal, governance or similar position
  • Company secretarial experience will be an added advantage.
  • Member of relevant professional bodies will be an added advantage.
  • Good practical knowledge of the relevant national legislation, rules, compliance codes and corporate governance instruments.
  • Highest regard for ethics, integrity and confidentiality.
  • Solution driven, ability to deliver results within agreed timelines.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent judgment and ability to anticipate legal issues or risks.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and negotiating skills.
