About the role

Job Purpose:The Senior Manager Strategy and Project Management will be responsible for supporting the Chief Executive Officer with overall NIPDB strategy and Project Management. This position will assist in shaping the organisation's long-term strategy and developing measures that realize the organization’s objectives. This position must understand future needs and opportunities to propose and/or translate them into technology, processes and/or services that create value. Focusing on strategic alignment, value delivery, risk management, and resources management, leading the research and transition activities, and applying research, experimental development, and early design activities to validate/invalidate ideas. The incumbent must consistently monitor, evaluate and report on strategy implementation to the entire Executive and Management Team. The incumbent will also direct the activities of the Project Management Unit in the office of the CEO to ensure that the entire organization is effectively managing, collaborating and delivering on all its projects. As such, the position is responsible for planning and overseeing projects within the organisation, from the initial ideation through to completion and evaluation, coordinate people and processes to deliver projects on time, within budget and with the desired outcomes aligned to objectives. Furthermore, the position will handle day-to-day items delegated by the CEO including attending meetings with the CEO and ensuring follow up on all action items in line with best project management practices. • Develop five-year strategies when due, annual business plans, company and departmental scorecard, Integrated Strategic Business Plan as required by PEGA and any other relevant statutory reports as may be required, including the annual report. • Prepare, monitor and evaluate the organisation's strategy implementation plan. • Ensure alignment of departmental goals, processes and resource allocation with the organisational strategy and support the various Departments to ensure the attainment of the strategy. • Conduct continuous organisational and national-level benchmarking to identify trends and opportunities to improve the NIPDB and Namibia’s competitive positioning, including monitoring Namibia’s performance in international rankings. • Develop innovative organisation techniques and models to improve organisational efficiency and effectiveness, including identifying organisation gaps to propose corrective actions towards process improvement, optimisation and digitalisation. • Keep abreast of reports and publications in the NIPDB field that will benefit the organisation and the implementation of its strategy. • Prepare summaries of learnings from various publications / reports for consideration by EXCO for implementation; and • Collaborate with various departments to collect organisational data and complete timely analysis of NIPDB’s performance and achievements and provide information and data to relevant industry bodies. • Collaborate with the ICT Division to manage and attain stakeholder digital expectations and ensure delivery in line with expectations. • Identify areas for further research and innovation by NIPDB for consideration. • Work closely with the ICT team to test new digitisation hardware and software, including reporting issues, user testing and feedback, to optimise quality and efficiency; and • Analyse investor activity as well as those of other IPAs around the world and assist to develop NIPDB’s response for improved investor attraction and conversion. • Identify and manage various projects and programmes in the CEO’s Office, particularly those of strategic importance and support other Departments with the processes and tools that will enable them to effectively and efficiently manage their projects. • Define project objectives, project scope, roles & responsibilities. • Define resource requirements and manage resource availability & allocation – both internal and external stakeholders. • Prepare and manage project budgets from inception to delivery. • Prepare detailed project plans and charters to schedule key project milestones, workstreams & activities and document project progress to ensure organisational record-keeping and continuity. • Manage delivery of projects in line with the project plan and charter, including amending project plans where required and providing regular reports on project status to the team and key stakeholders. • Manage and adjust for any changes in project scope, schedule and / or budget. • Identify and mitigate project risks. • Manage the relationship and communication with project stakeholders, ensuring the project is delivered to their satisfaction and meets their objectives; and • Design and implement a Project Management Dashboard Reporting System. • Manage all administrative functions in the CEO’s office, including supporting the CEO to chair their recurring/ scheduled meetings where relevant. • Attend to administrative employee matters in the CEO’s Office (e.g. ensure that performance agreements, reviews etc. are concluded and submitted). • Ensure that all other administrative matters are concluded. • Represent the CEOs office on internal and external working committees and regularly and timeously keep the CEO abreast of key developments within a reasonable timeframe. • Manage and oversee the work and positions/incumbents within the unit. • Oversee any Senior Consultants, Consultants and Interns in the Strategy and Project Management Division and in the Office of the CEO • Provide comprehensive professional support service to the CEO in all aspects relating to efficient and successful operation of the CEO’s office (including presentations, talking oversee and facilitate administrative duties, points, budget submission, etc.); and • Undertake other duties as may be reasonably required from time to time. • Identify areas for further research and innovation by NIPDB for consideration. **Company Contact:** Address: Cnr Gartent Street & Dr. A.B. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Commerce, Entrepreneurship, International Business, Business Management, Economics, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years’ experience in a related field and at least 3 years should have been in a managerial role.
  • Experience in implementing and/or facilitating strategy development, monitoring and implementation.
  • Project Management Certification with an accredited international body will be advantageous.
  • Experience working in a project-driven environment with multiple projects running concurrently (a Portfolio) and a focus on stakeholder management.
  • Must be computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Problem-solving skills and solutions driven.
  • Time management skills and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Plan ahead and work in a systematic, and organised way.
  • Show interest in the Namibian economy and stays up to date with market factors and global events and trends.
  • Goal driven, results-orientated and very observant.
  • Sound communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, a self-starter and an initiator.
  • Discretion and diplomacy with a good understanding of data privacy and confidentiality standards.
  • Friendly and well-presented and excellent communicator (spoken, written and interpersonal).
