About the role
Job Purpose:To lead, coordinate and support a team of Inventory controllers and apprentices responsible for AGL Namibia inventory store. The supervisor will be responsible for managing, planning, reporting, budget support and performance management. The position will be liaising with supply chain personnel and internal customers to ensure optimum Inventory levels are set, and accurate Inventory records are maintained to allow all parties to make informed decisions. Effective supervision, over inspections and quality control forms part of this role. Key ResponsilitiesInventory forecasting and management: • Ensure high MRP (Material Requirements Planning) accuracy through maintaining accurate master data in the ERP • Run SRR (stock replenishment report) as required and check the accuracy before purchasing commitment • Make necessary changes to SRR where necessary ensuring correct quantities are requested to order • Liaise with end user personnel regarding invent MIN/MAX levels and adjust where necessary to ensure under or over ordering does not occur • Develop, implement and monitor all key inventory functions related to inventory transactions to ensure that they are timely and accurate • Ensure the necessary table files are updated to provide additional information when required • Continually interrogate the ERP inventory system to ensure it is proving full and accurate data • Regularly liaise with ERP system support representative to advise system capability and to enhance required features • Monitor inventory movement (receipts, transfers and issuing) to ensure their transactions are correct and timely to provide accurate system information. • Identify trends affecting inventory changes and movement and advise necessary personnel so informed decisions can be made • In the event of a supply emergency (such as a sudden increase in demand or a shortage of materials) liaise with procurement officer to determine how to get new supplies in time to meet deadlines • Monitor items for correct pricing and negative values to ensure the system is current and information up to date • Ensure inventory posting occur to provide GL update • Participate and contribute to inventory planning meetings • Complete special projects and assignments as might be required • Take a leading role in controlling the annual stock take from a systems perspective • Ensure adequate planning to prepare the documents and system to enable the annual count to occur • Prepare and co-ordinate the cycle count programme and results • Initiate Vital Materials Count • Investigate all stock adjustments and perform thorough research into discrepancies using all available resources to identify root causes and possible solutions. • Maintain count records for tracking and audit purposes • Compiling inventory reports, review and analyse, with focus on stock count accuracy • Proactively report product and material availability issues • Update Inventory KPI data on an as required basis • Compile Stock movement and aging report (Slow and obsolete) for Quarterly analysis • Manage leave planning, standby roster compliance, and labour allocation for the job in consultation with Technical Manager and in line with applicable policies and procedures. • Arrange relief labour or additional manpower where required to avoid understaffing during leave, training, mini-rebuilds, or high labour demand periods • Manage overtime in line with labour law act 11 of 2007 • Maintaining effective working relations and communication with internal and external stakeholders/suppliers/contactors to improve the quality of service. • Effectively manage and maintain all working relations with suppliers and relevant stakeholder to ensure business needs are met. • Hold and exercise Statutory / Legal appointment accountability for all persons under supervision, ensuring compliance with PPE requirements, critical controls, risk assessments, permits, and site safety standards across the section. • Conduct and oversee pre-start toolbox talks, job risk reviews (HIRA / JSA), and unannounced workplace inspections; stop unsafe work immediately and document all findings. • Lead incident investigations (injury, near-miss, equipment damage) with full root cause analysis (RCA) and ensure corrective actions are implemented, tracked, and closed out. • Promote and enforce good housekeeping, 5S principles, and safe work practices always. • Complete and submit Visible Felt Leadership (VFL) records and Planned Task Observations (PTOs) as required. • Ensure subordinates attend safety-training courses; • Adhere to and enforce all company and departmental policies, procedures, rules, and standing instructions. • Live the company values and provide visible, accountable leadership across the team. • Maintain discipline, attendance, housekeeping standards, and proper use of labour, tools, spares, and time across all supervised teams. • Perform any other lawful and reasonable task allocated by the Technical Manager within the scope of competence and authority • Must be able to stand, kneel, bend for extended periods. • Must be able to work comfortably in varied environments, including hot, cold, noisy workshop spaces **Company Contact:** Address: P.O. Requirements
- [Minimum Qualifications]
- Grade 12 (Pass) is essential
- Minimum bachelor’s degree (NQA 7) in Supply chain Management Discipline is essential
- Deep knowledge on how to use MS excel for Data analysis is essential
- Certification in Planning and Inventory Management (CPIM) is an added advantage
- Knowledge of inventory Management systems (IMS), warehouse management system (WMS) and ERP like Maximo is an advantage
- Supervisory or management qualification/training like MDP will be a distinct advantage
- Code B/BE driver’s license.
- Valid police certificate of conduct
- A minimum of Six (6) years of relevant experience post qualification attainment
- Minimum one (1) years’ experience as a supervisor
- Proven experience using a ERP (Maximo or equivalent) for inventory management
- Deep understanding of cycle counting, physical inventory audits, and valuation methods (like FIFO and LIFO)
- Experience in supporting OPEX budgeting, variance reporting, and cost control
- Good communication skills, excellent health and safety knowledge and awareness
- Ability to work effectively independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team
- Skill in resolving stock discrepancies, missing shipments, and overstock issues.
- High accuracy in record-keeping and tracking inventory metrics.
- Must be willing to work overtime, attend to after-hours when required
