About the role

We are looking for a Duty Manager who runs the lodge floor day to day — visible, hands-on and present at every touchpoint of the guest experience. You will lead the shift, welcome and farewell guests, keep quality standards tight across housekeeping, front of house and public areas, manage reservations and the retail shop, and take assisting ownership of stock and ordering. This is a working management role. You will be at the front desk, in the rooms, in the store room and on the floor — not behind a closed office door. What you will do Daily lodge operations  Run the daily shift: open and close the lodge, conduct morning briefings and full shift handovers  Coordinate arrivals, departures, room readiness, transfers and activity bookings  Be the first point of contact for guest requests, special occasions and complaints, and resolve them on the spot  Liaise between front office, housekeeping, kitchen, bar, maintenance and guiding teams  Act as duty manager on call for after-hours guest needs, emergencies and incidents  Stand in for the Lodge Manager during leave cycles and rotations Front desk and guest experience  Manage check-in and check-out, guest registration, billing, invoicing and cash-ups  Handle payments (cash, card, EFT, vouchers) accurately and reconcile daily takings  Give accurate information on the region, activities, road conditions and travel logistics  Maintain guest profiles, preferences, dietary requirements and special requests  Gather and act on guest feedback; monitor and respond to online reviews. Reservations  Manage bookings, enquiries, quotations and confirmations.  Maintain accurate availability, rate loading and allocation across direct bookings and agent bookings  Liaise professionally with tour operators, travel agents and direct guests  Manage provisional bookings, deposits, cancellations, no-shows and rooming lists  Produce arrival lists, occupancy forecasts and daily operational reports Quality control  Conduct daily room, public area and back-of-house inspections against agreed standards  Spot-check housekeeping, laundry, bar service, table settings and grounds presentation  Monitor food and beverage service standards alongside the kitchen and bar teams  Log maintenance faults and follow through to completion  Uphold health, safety, hygiene and fire-safety standards across the property Retail  Assist with the management of the curio and retail shop: displays, merchandising, restocking, pricing and sales reconciliation  Manage retail stock counts, sales records, reordering and supplier relationships  Track best sellers, slow movers, margins and shrinkage; report on retail performance Stock control and ordering  Manage stock for bar, housekeeping, guest amenities, cleaning materials, fuel and general consumables  Receive, check and record deliveries against orders; verify quantity, quality and pricing  Organize weekly and monthly stock counts and reconcile variances  Compile and place orders with suppliers around delivery schedules per week  Forecast requirements for high season, large groups and festive periods, allowing for the realities of a remote supply chain **Company Contact:** Address: Farm Klein Aus no 8 Aus, Namibia Phone: +26463258116/021 Website: http://www.klein-aus-vista.com
