About the role:The Bit Sharpener is responsible for smoothing, sharpening, polishing and grinding bits used in drilling operations.Responsibilities • Ensure equipment, material and consumables are available for the work to be performed. • Inspect and assess bits for wear and damage. • Scrap bits that cannot be brought back to specification requirements. • Determine appropriate sharpening techniques. • Perform precision grinding, polishing and sharpening of bits • Adequately protect sharpened bits for despatch to the site store or drilling site. • Respond promptly to breakdowns in remote or field locations, minimizing downtime and ensuring smooth drilling operations. • Document sharpening processes and tool performance metrics for quality control. • Maintain records of all scrapped bits. • Report equipment malfunctions to the supervisor. • Comply with company policies, mine regulations, and health, safety, and environmental legislation. • Follow safety protocols and perform tasks in a safe, well managed manner to prevent accidents. • Uphold high housekeeping standards in work area. • Lead by example in a safety culture, actively participating in toolbox talks, drills, incident reporting, and training sessions. • Identify hazards and propose corrective actions to prevent incidents. **Special Requirements:** • Technical Proficiency • Reporting & Documentation • Safety Management • Teamwork • Communication • Accountability • Resilience & Adaptability • Integrity • Preference will be given to previously disadvantaged applicants **Company Contact:** Address: Otjiwarongo Otjiwarongo. Requirements
- Grade 12
- 2+ years experience as a Bit Sharpener or similar role in amanufacturing or machining environment.
- Valid Code of Conduct
