About the role:The Senior Offsider is responsible for assisting the Driller in the safe, efficient and cost-effective operation of drilling rigs to achieve production targets while upholding the highest safety and environmental standards.Responsibilities • Assist in setting up the drilling rig safely and efficiently to meet operational requirements. • Participate in risk assessments and assist in ensuring that all pre-drilling safety checks are completed. • Assist the Driller to operate the rig in strict adherence to safety procedures and industry best practice. • Empty and lay out core/samples from inner tubes in accordance with client specifications and instructions. • Safe handling of rods including, loading and unloading, lifting and pulling. • Assist with rig moves. • Ensure tools and downhole equipment are always clean and functional. • Assist the Driller to record drilling performance, consumable usage, and operational conditions during the shift. • Lead, instruct, and motivate Junior Offsiders to achieve production and safety targets. • Comply with company policies, mine regulations, and health, safety, and environmental legislation. • Follow safety protocols and perform tasks in a safe, well managed manner to prevent accidents. • Uphold high housekeeping standards across all drilling areas. • Lead by example in a safety culture, actively participating in toolbox talks, drills, incident reporting, and training sessions. • Identify hazards and propose corrective actions to prevent incidents **Special Requirements:** • Coaching & Mentorship • Technical Proficiency • General Aptitude • Reporting & Documentation • Safety Management • Teamwork • Communication • Accountability • Resilience & Adaptability • Integrity • Preference will be given to previously disadvantaged applicants **Company Contact:** Address: Otjiwarongo Otjiwarongo. Requirements
- Grade 12
- Documented training records in the form of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Practical Task Observations (PTOs), and competency assessments.
- 2+ years experience as a Junior Offsider assisting the driller with various drilling methods.
- Proven track record of achieving production and safety targets in remote or field-based environments.
- Valid Code of Conduct
