About the role:To plan, direct, or coordinate the Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) issues within a geographical or functional area. This includes managing daily HSE operations for the allocated area and supervising HSE Coordinators. The role also serves as a support function to the Group HSE ManagerResponsibilities • Plan, drive, and manage HSE goals to ensure compliance at all times. Ensure the geographical area of responsibility adheres to statutory safety regulations and standards, procedures, and practices. • Conduct regular inspections and safety audits to review hazards and ensure the environment is safe and hazard-free. The average safety audit score for the geographical area should be above 80% • Manage the development and continuous improvement of HSE standards and procedures within the span of control. Review the HSE management system and recommend and implement necessary changes according to regulatory and client requirements. • Investigate incidents and accidents, ensuring correct root causes and actions are noted. Incidents must be properly documented, with actPrepare and submit consolidated weekly HSE reports for the area of responsibility. Ensure accuracy of reporting and timeous submission. • Identify training needs, action training bookings, and maintain an accurate matrix for all employees. Requirements
- Grade 12
- SAMTRAC; SAMTRAC Mining; orLocal OSHA Phase One; and Local OSHA Phase Two Qualification or equivalent. Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments (HIRA) and Incident investigation.
- International accreditation would be advantageous.
- A minimum of five years relevant experience in mining or construction environment.
- Experience in maintenance of HSE Management system.
- Knowledge of internal auditing practices.
- Knowledge of Incident Investigations.
- Valid Code of Conduct
